This was a very enjoyable run on a terrific early autumn morning, the run took us from Colman Terrace to Macclesfield so avoiding most of the traffic for an agreed stop for coffee in d at the General Store, it seemed that this was the meeting place for several of our group so the stop was extended to accommodate these contacts.
Those on the run were Rory Liebelt in his Green Torana; Roy Shelton in his Blue Daimler V8; Jenny Way & I plus Ian & Marylyn Bell in my Gold MG6; Sandy & Neil Young in their lovely Datsun 260Zand Andy Doube in his red VW Golf plus later on Carlein Vandenakker met us at Magill.
Not to worry, as the allotted time to drive to Magill meant we were having to slow the process anyway, if we had left at 10.30 we were going to be around the desired 12.30 time for lunch.
Being a small group was bonus as we were able to make sure all did not really need the run sheet as they all followed us in the MG6.
From Maccy we stayed on the Strathalbyn Road through Mylor and Aldgate then turned left on Gould Road in Stirling over the freeway onto the Old Mount Barker Road and headed for Summertown. The trip down Tregarthon Road was un-spectacular compared to days long gone, and then on towards Norton Summitt and down into Adelaide to the Tower Hotel at Magill.
As mentioned we were far too early but after about 20 minutes we all headed into the hotel for a very pleasant lunch and Carlein joined us having kept to the freeway rather than all the winding roads we drove along.
After saying out goodbyes we decided to head back part of the way we came rather than go into Adelaide.
One really does need to be attentive on Magil Road heading up to Norton Summitt as there are two very difficult spots, one is the very sharp Left switch-back turn before the steep hill near the bottom of the hill and then another blind steep corner further up! Then once you are beside the Scenic Hotel at the junction you need to approach this section with much caution before the right hand turn, certainly the rest of the return on the freeway was uneventful.
So, even though a small number of members this was a chance for us all to catch up very easily.
