As the winners of last years’ Glyn Morris Mystery Run, David and Penny Leonard had the honour of organising this years’ event. Around 36 entrants in 20 vehicles lined up for the starters flag on Colman Terrace for destinations unknown. Sent off at 1 minute intervals, with directions in hand, it was all eyes open as they searched for clues in and around Strathalbyn before heading off to Macclesfield and Meadows, then returning to Strath and the Lions’ den for a morning tea of hot pancakes and drinks. Part one over and done. Nerves settled and relationships mended, it was off on part 2. This time it was out to Langhorne Creek, up to Wistow, Mt Barker Summit and Nairne before the final lunch destination of the Green Valley Strawberry Farm at Hay Valley, towards Woodside.
Very well done by David and Penny, and thanks to the Lions club volunteers for their contribution. It appears that there were several close scores for the also rans, but there was one clear winner.
Congratulations to Ray Beattie and Keryn Hoeschle. In addition to the trophy presented by Glyn Morris, you have the whole year to plan next years event.
