Mid-Week Run to Belicious. Weds. 16h November 2022
Cool and overcast conditions did not deter 23 people in 10 vehicles to set off on a round about journey to the Belicious Café at Inman Valley. Most drivers chose to take their modern car in the knowledge that road works meant a detour of some 7 km on unsealed roads, which was expected to be rather muddy following the weekend storms. Coffee was at Mawson House in Meadows where we learnt that Brookman Road was also closed for roadworks. This meant another detour and change to the planned route. We travelled via Kangarilla, then back to Brookman Road along Peters Creek Road to get back on course. Then via Willunga Hill, Pages Flat Road almost to Myponga, South Road, and Reservoir Road to the viewing area of Myponga Reservoir. For some, it was the first time they had seen water flowing over the spillway. Onward across the causeway, through Carrickalinga, Normanville, Yankalilla, Inman Valley Road to Belicious. The detour surprised us all by being dusty, despite all the rain. We were well catered for at the Café, accepting that some meals took time, as everything is prepared to order. Some chose to sample the house specialty of Belgian Waffles, while others looked on in envy. The afternoon was spent chatting and enjoyed by all.
